Ingredients
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter (142g) – Adds richness and tenderness
- 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar – Provides sweetness and a smooth texture
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract – Adds a warm, comforting flavor
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (180g) – Forms the base of the dough
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (optional) – Enhances the overall flavor
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Shape the dough into a log or press it into a baking pan. If using cookie cutters, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Chill the dough for 20 minutes if it’s too soft.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- Chilling the dough before baking helps maintain the cookie shape.
- For extra flavor, add lemon zest, almond extract, or cinnamon.
