Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: Mix yeast with warm milk and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Make the Dough: Whisk in eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and lemon zest. Add flour and salt. Knead until smooth.
- Let It Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: Mix softened butter, sugar, lemon zest, and salt in a small bowl.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread filling evenly, roll tightly, and cut into 12 slices.
- Second Rise: Place rolls in a baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the Icing: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, milk, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Finish with Icing: Drizzle icing over warm rolls and serve immediately.
