Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large eggs
- Water (enough to cover eggs)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (optional, for easier peeling)
- Ice (for ice bath)
Instructions
- Place eggs in a single layer in a medium pot. Add enough cold water to cover them by at least an inch.
- Bring water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let eggs simmer for 9-12 minutes, depending on desired yolk firmness.
- Prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with ice and water.
- Immediately transfer boiled eggs to the ice bath to cool for at least 5 minutes.
- Gently tap and roll eggs on a hard surface, then peel under running water.
Notes
Using older eggs (7-10 days old) helps with easier peeling. Adding a teaspoon of baking soda to the water can also make peeling simpler.
