Some desserts look simple… until you cut into them.
This one is something else.
A single batter that magically transforms in the oven into three soft layers—a light cake top, a creamy custard center, and a smooth, slightly dense base. Rich, chocolatey, and incredibly satisfying with every bite.

What you’ll need
• 4 eggs (separated)
• ¾ cup sugar
• ½ cup melted butter
• ¾ cup all-purpose flour
• ¼ cup cocoa powder
• 2 cups milk (lukewarm)
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
How it comes together
Separate the eggs, placing whites and yolks in two bowls.
Beat the egg yolks with sugar until light and creamy.
Add melted butter and vanilla, then mix until smooth.
Stir in flour and cocoa powder.
Slowly add the milk, mixing into a thin batter.
In another bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.
Gently fold the egg whites into the batter—keep it light and slightly lumpy.
Pour into a lined baking dish.
Bake at 325°F (160°C) for about 50–60 minutes until set but still soft in the center.
Let cool completely before slicing.
The best part
Cut into it once it’s fully cooled.
You’ll see three layers form naturally—the top light and fluffy, the middle creamy like custard, and the bottom soft and dense.
Each bite blends all three textures into something rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced.
