Black Forest Lava Donut Bites (Chocolate, Cherry & Melting Center)

There’s something about chocolate and cherry that always feels rich and irresistible.

But these take it further.

Soft chocolate donut bites with a warm cherry center and a creamy filling that melts together in every bite. The outside is light and tender, while the inside stays smooth, rich, and slightly fruity.

What you’ll need

For the donut batter:

• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• ¼ cup cocoa powder
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 egg
• ¾ cup milk
• 2 tbsp melted butter
• 1 tsp baking powder

For the filling:

• ½ cup cherry pie filling
• ¼ cup cream cheese (softened)
• 2 tbsp powdered sugar

How it comes together

In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder.

Add the egg, milk, and melted butter, then whisk until smooth.

In another bowl, mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy.

Spoon a small amount of chocolate batter into mini molds or a donut pan.

Add a small spoon of cherry filling and a bit of cream mixture in the center.

Cover lightly with more batter.

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10–12 minutes until set but still soft inside.

The best part

Break one open while it’s still warm.

The cherry center blends into the chocolate, while the cream adds a smooth, rich finish that melts together in every bite.

It’s soft, chocolatey, and just the right amount of indulgent.
