Ingredients
For the Beef and Mushroom Gravy:
- 1 1/2 lbs chuck or stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 cups cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Egg Noodles:
- 12 oz wide egg noodles
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
Brown the Beef: Season beef with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the beef in batches. Remove and set aside.
Sauté Aromatics: Melt butter in the skillet. Add onion and garlic, cooking until soft. Stir in mushrooms and cook until golden brown.
Make the Gravy: Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir. Slowly pour in beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer.
Simmer the Beef: Return beef to the skillet, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes until tender.
Finish with Cream: Stir in heavy cream and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Prepare Noodles: Cook egg noodles according to package instructions, drain, and toss with butter.
Serve: Plate the noodles and generously ladle the beef and mushroom gravy over the top. Enjoy!
